There are differences in expression habits and grammar between English and Chinese. Translators often come into contact with business English translation in their work. Let's share with you how to translate practical business English?
1. Phonetically, change the active voice into the passive voice, or change the passive voice into the active voice.
In part of speech, prepositions, adjectives, adverbs and nouns are used to replace the original verbs, verbs, adjectives and pronouns are used to replace nouns, and phrases and adverbs are used to replace adjectives.
3. In the aspect of sentence making, predicate, attribute, adverbial and object are used to replace subject, predicate, subject and attribute are used to change predicate, or subject and adverbial are used to change attribute.
4. In terms of sentence pattern, simple sentence and complex sentence can be exchanged, compound sentence and compound sentence can be exchanged, or attributive clause can be converted into adverbial clause.
We can take the opposite strategy: break a long and difficult sentence into short ones, and use appropriate complements. Finally, we should pay attention to adjust the word order according to the habits of Chinese people. We should not only be able to understand, but also avoid some grammatical problems.
Combinatorial translation is the combination of several short sentences or simple sentences to form a compound sentence. This kind of compound sentence often appears in Chinese English translation, such as the final translation into attributive clause, adverbial clause, object clause and so on. This is because Chinese sentences like the so-called "form scattered but spirit not scattered", that is, the sentence structure is loose, but the meaning is closely connected, so in order to express this effect, Chinese is usually written in simple sentences. On the other hand, English is more formal and structured, so it tends to use complex and long sentences. Therefore, attention should be paid to the use of prepositions, conjunctions and participles in C-E translation.
This is contrary to the original translation method, which requires the deletion of parts that do not conform to the expression, thinking or language habits of Chinese or English, so that the translated sentences will not appear cumbersome.
