Dear Friends and Neighbors,

This legislative session created many opportunities for the residents of the State of Wisconsin. By promoting economic development, investing in our children and our senior citizens, and putting the pocketbooks of Wisconsin taxpayers ahead of increased spending, we were able to create a new vision for Wisconsin.

As a member of the Joint Finance Committee, I worked to ensure that the budget protects vital programs like SeniorCare (the senior prescription drug assistance program) and Medical Assistance, while still adding to our public schools.

I supported the property tax freeze, and worked to make certain that the freeze allowed for the growth of the economy. Living in the fastest growing district in the state, I believe that it is critical that communities were not punished for expanding and diversifying our local tax base. While the temporary freeze was vetoed, the process enhanced Wisconsinites' awareness of the impact property taxes have on our families, our seniors, and our businesses.

We approved the Jobs Creation Act, which streamlined the business regulatory process. We eliminated the "jobs tax," and restored funding for the Manufacturing Extension Grant program.

It is with your help that we are able to address the needs of our residents and our area. We are able to prioritize the needs of our state, meeting our goals within the financial resources available. By working together we can continue to focus on the future, making Wisconsin an even better place to live, work and retire.
